Together for Health: Honoring Our Progress and Committing to Science

By Bebeto

Today, on World Health Day, we mark the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948 with the ambitious goal of “the attainment by all people of the highest possible standard of health”. This was followed by major advances, from the eradication of Smallpox to global mobilisation through initiatives such as the Stop TB Partnership and the creation of 153 country offices to support coordinated responses to health crises like COVID-19. This year’s theme, “Together for health. Stand with science”, appropriately underscores the challenges ahead that threaten to undermine the leaps of progress. With only four years remaining to achieve the transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, such as the eradication of poverty and health for all by ensuring access to reliable clean energy for all can only be achieved with a renewed emphasis on scientifically informed decision making. Join us today in committing to a rational and resilient way of life and work.
